One of the original creators behind the well-known frozen dessert company Ben and Jerry's has claimed that parent company the multinational conglomerate prevented the launch for an innovative Palestine-themed frozen dessert product.

Ben Cohen, who co-founded the business alongside Jerry Greenfield, revealed how he will independently develop this new flavor within an individual collection showcasing causes Ben & Jerry's was barred from addressing publicly.

Longstanding Conflict Involving Founders versus Corporate Owner

This latest announcement intensifies the continuing disagreement among the world-famous ice cream maker and its corporate parent, the UK-based consumer goods corporation that has owned the ice cream brand for over two decades.

The co-founders have asserted how Unilever and their ice cream division Magnum unlawfully blocked their company against "maintaining its activist principles".

The Fruit Sorbet becoming a Symbol for Solidarity

The entrepreneur stated through social media that he's developing a new watermelon-based frozen dessert, requesting consumer ideas for naming options and potential ingredients.

β€œI'm doing what they were prevented from doing,” the founder declared from his kitchen. β€œI'm creating a watermelon-flavored frozen dessert that advocates for permanent peace in Palestine while demanding repairing the damage that occurred in the region.”

This particular fruit has emerged as an emblem for support for the Palestinian people because of its coloration, which mirror those of Palestine's national banner – the distinctive four-color pattern.

Previous Activism and Recent Developments

In 2021, Ben & Jerry's refused to sell its products in territories occupied by Israel, leading to the parent company transferring their Israel business over to an Israeli distributor, thus allowing ongoing distribution in the occupied West Bank.

The new dessert series is being developed under Ben's Best, the socially conscious dessert company that originally established several years back to support ex- political contender Senator Sanders via the product "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Changes and Upcoming Plans

The founder revealed that he will develop other frozen dessert varieties that address issues that the company was silenced from speaking about openly by corporate restrictions.

The announcement comes after co-founder Jerry Greenfield resigned his position at the company recently, after many years of involvement, mentioning concerns that its independence had been undermined following Unilever's decision to curb their advocacy work.

Previously, Ben Cohen stated that β€œMy partner has strong compassion and the ongoing dispute with Unilever was deeply distressing him."

"My heart leads me to continue to work within the organization to advocate for its independence ensuring that it can actualise the social mission, the values which established its foundation and has maintained for decades," he explained to journalists.
