Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted debris landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
