Preview the Remastered Legendary Journey: This Complimentary Demo for DQ7 Reimagined Arrives Shortly.
Fans anticipating the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined won't have to wait the full month. A exciting demo version will go live on January 7th, offering a substantial taste into the game's opening hours. Notably, all progress made within this demo will be able to be carried over directly into the full game upon its subsequent debut.
More Than a Straightforward Remake: A Thorough Overhaul
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined constitutes a ground-up reimagining of the landmark 2000 role-playing game, first released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a significant departure from recent series re-releases, such as the recently released HD-2D iterations, this version utilizes a striking three-dimensional aesthetic. Locales have been crafted to look like detailed model sets, with protagonists having a whimsical chibi-esque look.
"Considering the 3DS port, the story was still quite long. Consequently, the team came to a decision that we wanted to condense the story, [and] make this adventure for modern audiences."
Significant Mechanical Enhancements & Updates
The development team have implemented numerous changes to update the original experience. Among these are:
- Quick Overworld Encounters: Similar to contemporary role-playing games, low-level foes can now be dispatched directly on the overworld map without initiating a separate turn-based battle sequence.
- Variable Combat Speed: Players can accelerate battle sequences to quickly power through less challenging fights.
- New Vocation System: A completely new character role has been added for this reimagining. Additionally, party members gain the ability to master a second job, significantly enhancing customization depth.
These changes are designed to tackle a key the 2000 game's most noted criticisms: its considerable scope. The initial adventure could easily take over 100 hours to finish. This new edition was expressly designed to enhance progression and reduce perceived bloat.
