Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his position following another convincing loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, representing the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got significant backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to change things and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented familiar weaknesses from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a phase like this with performances so bad.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until it is taken away, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to the top, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
