The Red Devils Poised to Secure German Striker Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants
The Women's Super League club are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from Bayern Munich.
A Marquee Acquisition for United
Schüller, who has six months left on her contract, is known as a prolific goal-getter for her club and the national team. She has netted over 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. Her arrival will be seen as a marquee coup for the WSL side.
Her exit from Bayern was expected after she appeared to be fighting back tears while thanking the club's fans after a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
Reports in December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its leading strikers. According to reports, the formalities for the move are now finalised.
Consistent Goalscoring to Strengthen United's Attack
The 28-year-old’s arrival is expected to provide a major boost to United’s attacking options. Schüller has been remarkably reliable with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- Over seven straight seasons, including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She won the top scorer award in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.
Gathering Momentum at Old Trafford
The acquisition of the German international coincides with a period when United seem to be gathering positive momentum.
Recent performances include qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.
